Travis Software was founded by Alan Williams in 1986. Travis invented the COBRA software industry shortly after the passage of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) that created the requirement of private employers to continue offering health coverage to former employees under certain circumstances. As the original architect of COBRA software, Travis Software has the most experience in the industry. This experience is used to produce feature-rich, flexible, and cost-efficient systems.
In 2009, Lauren Williams Fischer, the daughter of Travis’ founder, joined the company to take over the day-to-day operations. Lauren began her career as an ERISA/Employee Benefits attorney and brought with her the ability to review, interpret, and modify the systems as needed for the ever-changing laws and regulations of the industry. The company's customer-centered focus, along with the additional expertise of an in-house attorney, distinguishes Travis from others in the industry.
The company was acquired on December 31, 2012 by Volaris Group Inc., a business that acquires, strengthens, and grows companies that are already market leaders in a niche industry. The acquisition of Travis Software represented Volaris’ first investment in the Benefits Administration vertical market. Today, Travis continues to operate as a separate entity led by Fischer, now Managing Director at Travis.

At Travis, we are committed to bringing the best products to the market that are fully-functional, easy to use, and that allow our customers to focus their attention on running their business. We aspire to continue to lead the industry for individual employers, brokers, and administrators through innovative products.
A successful company is built on confidence - confidence in our own products and our customers' confidence in our systems as consistent and efficient benefits to their businesses. Our goal is to take care of each customer with quality products and excellent customer service. We believe that customers, because of their daily use of our systems, provide us with great ideas for new features and functions that will keep Travis growing in the future.

Travis Software was founded in June, 1986, two months after the original COBRA law was passed by Congress.
At that time group life and health benefits were under-automated and there was an opportunity for a new company offering PC-based systems to establish itself with employers and administrators. Work began on our original Cobra system in June 1986 and it reached the market in September. Within the first year, this system was installed by over 500 employers, insurance carriers, and TPAs! We've been moving forward ever since. TravisFlex and the Retiree Premium Billing System (now "TBILL") were developed as additional products in the succeeding years, and our staff has been privileged to work with hundreds of COBRA, TravisFlex, and TBILL users during the past 25 years. With the addition of WebCOBRA, introduced in 2005, we offer two ways of doing COBRA and Retiree Billing: either on your computers or via the Internet.
If you decide to install one of our systems, you'll then receive what we believe is the best software and support available to the benefits industry. I think you'll also be impressed with the quality and content of the updates and new releases we make available under the Support and Update Plan for each system.
