New Updates Of Systems To Be Distributed Electronically
During the past two years, the people at Travis have worked hard to program our systems in a "common system platform" that would allow electronic distribution of the updates, or "Mid-Version Enhancements" (MVE's) that are developed between the major releases we send to our users on CD. We wanted to be able to update our systems more often between major releases, as new capabilities were added and error corrections made, and the common platform was a necessary building block.
We've done it! You'll be able to download our MVE's via the Internet, as a part of your subscription to the Support and Update Plan for your Travis system. Not only will you be able to take advantage of new capabilities as we develop and test them, but everyone will easily be able to make sure they are on the latest version of our systems.
You're going to be receiving announcements beginning as early as next week that new MVE's are available for download. These "Travis Mid-Version Enhancement Notices" will be separate from the "Travis Updates" that we use to announce new products and features, and from "Travis Research Reports" that we use to provide benefit research information.
Each MVE Notice will prompt you to go to an Internet site where the new release of your configuration of our system(s) will be available. Once you navigate to the indicated folder and enter the password we will provide in the announcement email, the Program Files needed to update your desktop or network-based system (or Web-based system, if you have TravisCobra/Web, TravisFlex/Web or the upcoming RBILL/Web) will be downloaded to you, along with installation instructions and User Manual update information.
We'll still be providing you with new CD's and printed User Manual updates when major releases, those that require database structure modifications, are made available. But many of our new features will be competed between major releases, and those features will be in the MVE's you can electronically download and install.
We want each of our customers to be able to take advantage of the latest improvements in our systems, and automatic updating makes that desire a reality. We hope when you receive notices that new updates of Travis systems are available, you'll take advantage of this new distribution method to make sure that your Travis system is always up-to-date.
